I know many of you can relate to feeling the “decorating itch” in your own homes. After the Christmas decorations went down I was feeling a little tired of how our living room was looking. Enter Lorena Canals Rugs and this space was instantly transformed!
Our living room space is really a multi-functional space for our family. My kids run and play with toys in this area (we always have baskets of their toys in the area). We also use this space to watch movies or Football on Sundays and after the kids are in bed my husband and I like to tuck the toys away and light a fire in the fireplace and enjoy the quiet with a glass of wine. I love that the Lorena Canals rug can transform the room and works with both this being a place my children play and also a sophisticated spot for adults only.
Additionally, to update this room we’ve added in some new mantle decor. The space is feeling fresh for the new year but I still don’t feel like it is completely finished as we want a new couch. We’re still on the hunt for the right one!
In the mean time one thing I am confident that fits the space perfectly is this amazing Lorena Canal rug. What initially drew me to this brand is that these rugs are machine washable (say what!?). You mean my kids can spill oatmeal and milk on it and I can just toss it in my laundry machine? Count me in! The variety of rugs they offer is truly so amazing and I had such a hard time narrowing it down. I loved so many of the rugs they have available!
In addition to these being low maintenance and easy to clean rugs, Lorena Canals also donates a portion of their proceeds to the Sakula Project and provides schooling to children in India. The rugs are made in India and designed in Spain and they are made of all natural dyes, handmade, eco, and contain no VOCs like most carpeting and rugs. Since this area of my home is a spot my children lounge or play in often, this was very important to me!

I am always on the hunt for a good clothing store option! I will be turning 30 in March so I feel like I am always looking for appropriate “mom” outfits that are also stylish! I want to share a few of my favorite stores to shop at. Please share your favorites in the comments!

Abercrombie & Fitch– I have recently become obsessed with A&F, much like I was at 16 years old haha! But for real, A&F has been so on point with trends lately for A LOT less than I remember things being when I was in high school. Their denim is still high quality and they have the coziest sweaters and fleece options. They also run sales OFTEN of up to 50% off, making things even more reasonable! It also doesn’t hurt that your clothes smell amazing for the first few times you wear them 😉
Loft– This is also a relatively new favorite of mine. I have always had hit or miss luck with Loft in the past but lately I am loving their cozy sweater options. They also often run sales of between 40-50% off so you can find really great deals!
Gap/Old Navy- You can never go wrong with these two sister brands. They offer cute clothing that compares look wise to much more expensive brands. I particularly love their workout gear, I wear a lot of their leggings and oversized athleisurewear.
Target- I couldn’t make this list and leave out my ALL time favorite one stop shop for everything! I generally am in a slight time crunch when I make my way into Targs but I love checking out the cute women’s clothing section. My favorite item’s to shop for at target are basic T’s and bathing suits surprisingly! Every spring/summer I flock to Target to find the cutest suits.
Free People– This brand is a little on the pricier side but I love the look of their items, particularly their oversized shirts. I love to browse the Free People section at my local Macy’s & Nordstrom Rack because they often offer additional discounts. On black Friday I scored this waffle knit oversized top for $38 (originally $68). It’s really comfortable and I wish I had it in all of the colors! I recommend sizing down if you buy this brand though.
Now, am I the only one who is wishing Forever 21 would open a Forever 31 store?! Please share other recommendations in the comments below!
Tis’ the season to give gifts to those you love the most! Shopping for others can be difficult, especially when it comes to children. Many family members in our life have asked that we do not get their kids toys. This can make shopping hard but I think a great option is a meaningful book.
A book is a great gift for kids because most kids love to be read to or love to look at the pictures in the books. Couple that with a book that is ABOUT them and their lives and you have a winning combo! That is exactly what the Wonderbly books offer.
These unique books are personalized to each child which makes them such a special keepsake and a fun gift.
Marley’s book is called The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name and it is available on Amazon just in time for Christmas! We loved this book because it is about a little girl who goes on an adventure to find her name. The book eventually spells out the letters of the child’s name. Marley loved the bright pictures and the pages were very thick (not so easy to rip!) so the quality was fantastic. This can be personalized for a boy or for a girl.
Kellan’s Wonderbly book is called The Christmas Snowflake and it is also available on Amazon for purchase. This book is so special this time of year and it was personalized to include our entire family. We were able to choose NINE family members to include in the book that help the snowflake find his way home. The book even comes with a special keepsake ornament that we hung on our tree (which you can see above the book).
Books are such a great gift whether it’s for Christmas, a birthday, or even just because! Promoting children’s reading by including them in the story not only helps them learn but also makes it fun!
