Screen time & Toddlers

There are so many decisions we as parents make each and every day regarding our kids. While not all of those decisions are controversial, many decisions we make can leave parents divided.

One hot topic is how much screen time is too much? Before I was a parent I was of the mindset that “my child will watch TV/iPads when he or she is 10”. This just isn’t realistic in this day and age, screens and phones are everywhere.

Marley fell asleep watching her favorite, Bubble Guppies.

Therefore, we try to set realistic standards for our kids. Marley is 15 months and Kellan is 3 and they both love their “screen time”, this includes TV watching, iPads, playing on our phones and watching DVD’s in the car. We do our best to limit our kids to certain time periods and time frames that they can use these different devices.

I’ve been on the hunt for educational iPad apps that I could feel good about letting my kids play with and watch. Enter KidloLand , this application has been a lifesaver for me! It’s full of educational games, stories, songs, puzzles, and so much more! Kellan is obsessed with trucks and cars and there are tons of games that are great for his age. I was so surprised at how quickly he picked up on the games, his favorite game involves playing the role of a fireman and helping put out fires.

Not only has Kidloland been great for him, my daughter loves to dance and sing along with their nursery rhymes. There are endless choices for them, and I don’t have to have #momguilt as they play around on the iPad because they’re not just watching random videos but actually learning!

Now I may be in the market for another iPad! 😂

Extra, Extra Long Weekend

Good morning!

I took a mini break from blogging as last week was crazy due to the holiday and my husband traveling for work. It felt good to get a few extra days off with my people for the long holiday weekend.

Kellan and Warner spent Friday at our state fair. Kellan had major heart eyes for all the police cars and train exhibit. He also ate his fair share of cotton candy and spent a small fortune on games; that’s what the fair is all about!

We attended a birthday party on Saturday and it was such a beautiful day! They gave all the kids big balloons and that was for sure the hit of the party. Chasing two toddlers around a park was my cardio that day.

We spent Labor Day swimming and soaking up one last 80 degree day. Our forecast shows only cooler temps now and all the pools in our area will be closing up. #winteriscoming

Ended the weekend with this view and a nice walk with the family. I will so miss all the outdoor time once it cools down and starts snowing. Just trying to soak up fall while I can!

Case of the Mondays

This weekend flew by and I was not prepared in any way shape or form for today to be Monday.

This post is going to be majorly centered around my husband so maybe I should introduce him.

His name is Warner and he’s pretty good. Like, at everything. Yep, one of THOSE people. He literally can not fail at anything but he makes everyone around him smile. This was us Friday night, we had dinner with friends for his birthday.

Warner is traveling for work until Wednesday. Side note, husband’s traveling for work should not be a thing. Can we all agree on this?

We spent our weekend celebrating Warner’s birthday with family. We also may have squeezed in some mini-golf and lunch time ice cream (when Dad is away, it’s do whatever to avoid meltdowns!)

Happy Monday!

With Love,

B
